Macau Focused Company Seeks $1B for Poker, Casino
11, December 2006
In the former Portuguese colony of Macau, poker and casino gambling is legal. Now a part of China, Macau is the only place such gambling is legal in the massive Eastern country, and it may see a billion dollars of capital poured into the infrastructure if one Chinese company has any say. Melco PBL Entertainment Ltd, a casino operator, intends to go public in an initial public offering on the New York-based Nasdaq stock exchange, looking at the one billion dollar mark as its target, and plans on using the funds to expand gambling operations in Macau.
