Seneca Nation of Indians Saying No to Job Quota for Casino
27, August 2006
Despite pressure from the city of Buffalo and community organizations, the Seneca Nation of Indians has fought the topic of job quotas to a standstill, halting casino talks between the groups. Leading the charge on this issue for Buffalo is Mayor Byron Brown, who is attempting to get the Seneca Nation of Indians to commit to a job quota in writing, something that, to date, the Nation is unwilling to do. Dwayne Ferguson, president and CEO of "Mad Dads" is throwing his support behind Mayor Brown, primarily because his outfit has always pushed for more jobs in the inner city that will possibly reverse Buffalo's crime rate.
