Super Casino License on the Hook
20, August 2006
Blackpool wants the United Kingdom's first super casino license, and it looks like it is willing to take the necessary steps in order to acquire it. Recently the owners of Coral Island, the Noble Organization, has submitted two proposals to the Blackpool's Development Control Committee. The Noble Organization is hoping to take the Palace Nightclub and to convert it into a three-story gaming structure, which would hold up to 900 casino goers. The Committee is being pressured to reject the applications, but yet also pressured to approve the application from the Grosvenor Casino, which is based in the Sandcastle building. The latter proposal would expand the gaming floor of the casino by about half, but supposedly would not increase Blackpool's chances of picking up the first super casino license from the United Kingdom.
