Racing Commission to Consider Gambling Expansion in Arkansas

09, July 2006

With a number of Arkansas racing tracks, including at least one thoroughbred track, already embroiled in a debate over gambling expansion with the Arkansas Legislature, Bill Bartholomay's announcement that his company will be seeking permission from the Arkansas Racing Commission to add video poker to the tracks is making waves. As a rep of Waukegan, Illinois casino company WBS Gaming, Bartholomay intends to bring his company's product line, including such games as "World Series of Poker" and "Three-Way Action Poker", to the race tracks, provided he can get the Commission's approval. When asked about video poker at their tracks a number of track owners seemed reluctant to commit, preferring to see what the Racing Commission would say first.
