Oklahoma Tribe Casino Proposal Moves Forward a Step
02, July 2006
The city of Auburn may soon be the spot for the new $400 million casino proposed by Oklahoma's Senneca-Cayuga Tribe, headed by Chief Paul Spicer. A number of weeks ago a press release was sent out from Mayor Tim Lattimore's office outlining a description of the project along with positive promises of what such a project could bring to the city of Auburn. Last week Chief Spicer spoke on the subject and essentially reiterated the same information, which, despite the lack of details, seemed to be enough to move the Auburn city Council into a yes momentum.
The vote moves the project forward a step but is nonbinding, contingent upon the tribe meeting a number of environmental, traffic, and infrastructure concerns.
