Mah Jongg Gambling Fraud Gets Guilty Verdict for Chinese Host

Taiwan TV emcee Hu Gua was known on television and for his Mah Jongg parties, but he started throwing for friends in 2003. Over the past three years those friends lost 20 million Taiwan new dollars, and it turns out that Hu was swindling them. Along with his brother, Hu Jixuan and accomplice Xu Zhihuang, Hu was convicted for installing miniature monitors and video feeds to observe the Mah Jongg tiles and swindling the friends out of their money.
One of his victims, Tian Shuling, discovered what she was up to but rather than turn him in, joined in the con. She has also been found guilty and all four are expected to be sentenced soon. The matter came to the attention of the police when Hu reported threatening messages from Tian when she tried to extort money from him.
